1 Timothy 6:10 (NKJV)

For the love of money is a root of all kinds of evil, for which some have strayed from the faith in their greediness, and pierced themselves through with many sorrows.

We are to set our desire in order and not let the love of money propel us else we risk the chance of smearing our conscience, becoming self-centered and deafening our hears to the plight of the needy. The exact reason why God wants us to love Him with our heart, soul and might so we don't get lured into temptation and want money at all costs forgetting that the power to make wealth actually lies within God's remit. Recall, what shall it profit a man that gains the whole world and loses his soul? What shall he give in exchange for his soul?
