Who we are and what this covers
AVAD (A Verse A Day) is a faith-based digital platform for devotionals, daily Scripture, videos, blog content, community participation, and related member services. In this policy, “AVAD”, “we”, “us”, and “our” refer to the platform operator. This policy applies to information collected through the AVAD website, forms, member account areas, and emails we send. It does not apply to third-party websites linked from AVAD.
02
Information we collect
Depending on how you use AVAD, we may collect:
- Account information: your name, email address, password credentials, role, verification status, account status, and account activity such as sign-in and password-reset events.
- Content and community information: posts, comments, replies, reactions, moderation submissions, and any profile information you choose to provide.
- Contact information: your name, email, optional phone number, subject, and message when you contact us. We retain the message and related support history so we can respond and manage the request.
- Usage and device information: pages viewed, interaction events, approximate technical information supplied by your browser or hosting infrastructure, and security logs where needed to operate and protect the service.
- Local device preferences: theme preference and limited devotional interaction markers stored in your browser, such as whether a devotional was viewed or liked.
- Consent records: your cookie preference, policy version, consent date, and a random visitor identifier used to update the same consent record without collecting your name or email. If you are signed in, the consent record may also be associated with your account.
03
How we use information
We use information to provide and improve AVAD, including to:
- create and secure accounts, authenticate members, verify email addresses, and process password recovery;
- publish and moderate content, comments, and community submissions;
- respond to contact requests and send service-related notifications;
- measure content engagement, prevent abuse, troubleshoot errors, and maintain platform security;
- send optional ministry or platform updates where you have requested them; and
- meet legal obligations, enforce our terms, and protect the rights and safety of AVAD and its users.
We do not sell personal information. We do not use the current public website for targeted advertising, and we do not intentionally collect sensitive religious-belief data as a requirement for using the public content. Any information you voluntarily include in a post or message may reveal your beliefs to people who can access that content.
04
Legal bases and consent
Where data-protection law requires a legal basis, we generally process information because it is necessary to provide a service you request, to comply with law, to pursue legitimate interests such as security and service improvement, or because you have given consent. Where processing relies on consent, you may withdraw it at any time; withdrawal does not affect processing that occurred before withdrawal.
06
Retention and security
We keep information only for as long as needed for the purposes described here, including account administration, support, moderation, legal, and security requirements. Retention periods vary by record type. We use reasonable administrative, technical, and organizational safeguards, including access controls and protected authentication mechanisms. No internet transmission or storage system can be guaranteed completely secure, so please avoid placing passwords, payment details, or other confidential information in public posts or contact messages.
07
Your rights and choices
Depending on your location, you may have rights to request access, correction, deletion, restriction, portability, or objection to certain processing, and to complain to a data-protection authority. You may also unsubscribe from optional communications. To make a request, contact us using the details below. We may need to verify your identity before completing a request and may retain limited information where the law permits or requires it.
You can control browser storage by changing your browser settings. Blocking essential storage or authentication cookies may prevent parts of AVAD from working correctly.
08
Children’s privacy
AVAD is not directed to children under the age at which they can lawfully consent to online services in their country. We do not knowingly collect personal information from children in violation of applicable law. If you believe a child has provided personal information, please contact us so we can review and remove it where appropriate.
09
Changes and contact
We may update this policy as AVAD or applicable law changes. The “Last updated” date indicates when the current version took effect. Material changes will be communicated through the website or another reasonable channel where required.
